Kalimbas

The kalimba (also known as the African thumb piano) is an unusual percussion instrument consisting of a number of thin metal blades (tines) mounted on a soundbox or soundboard.

The tines are made in different lengths to produce different notes which can be tuned to a chord. The tines are typically struck by the performers thumbs whilst the soundbox is held by the fingers.
