From la casa di Drum Workshop we have the DW 7000 Hi-Hat stand for those players who love DW quality hardware, but hate the weight!
The DW 7000 series is a lighter style of hardware with single-braced legs but containing all the best features of DW’s more expensive hardware. The 7000 series Hi-Hat stand is (more than) sturdy enough for most players (bar the real slammers who put ‘visual impact’ before playing) and will not creep forward when set up on carpet/mat. The retractable floor-spikes make sure of that.
The footboard is the same shape as the classic DW 5000 as opposed to the clod-hopping 9000 series footboards favoured by Sasquatch feet. There’s no bulky baseplate here either to weigh you down, we’re talking good old-fashioned radius-rods securing the footboard to the lower-casting of the stand. The tripod legs swivel to accommodate the slave unit of a double-pedal and the simplicity of the stand makes it a breeze to set up and tear down.
The Hi-Hat clutch is one of DW’s locking models so there’s no worry about your top cymbal loosening from the clutch and there’s even a memory-lock on the top post. If you feel the modern design of Hi-Hat stands is more about bells & whistles and weight-lifting competitions, then the DW 7000 Hi-Hat stand may just be what the chiropractor ordered!
