Buying a set of Puresound Super 30 Snare wires will make a massive improvement in sound to most Snare drums with a decent shell. We sell a lot of Puresound wires to people with vintage Snare drums, but to be honest, they help bring out the best in any Snare drum, no matter what the age.
PLEASE NOTE: For best performance, the Puresound Super 30 wires will benefit from a slightly wider Snare bed than the normal 3 to 3.5 inch bed. However, this is not strictly necessary to achieve the fatter sound you get from having 30 wires.
