If you ever feel your cross-stick sound could use a nice bit of elevation, the Rim Groover by Drum N Base could be right up your alleyway! Not dissimilar to the Yamaha Groove Wedge invented by Russ Miller, this alternative woodblock for your Snare Drum rim fattens up your pocket and provides more emphasis on cross-stick playing and even rim-shots.
With 14 plies of maple, this block adds a full organic wooden sound to your metal hoop. The maple playing surface results in more comfort and decreases the stick impact on your wrist. It even increases the lifespan of your drumsticks and rods (wood-on-wood evens the score). Spin your drum around and experience an alternative rim-shot like in the following video:

Before you go hitting that ‘Buy’ button, we need to make it clear, this will only fit a 14″ Snare Drum with 10 lugs! It’s not drilled for an 8-lugger or anything else! It comes with two 56mm tension-rods with #12-24 thread (7/32″ diameter) which is a standard fit for most drum companies except for….Sonor and DW! For those brands you’ll need 56mm length tension-rods made specifically by them. There are also some additional black washers which can be fitted between the Rim Groover and the hoop of your drum, should it need spacers.
