Stagg SPM-235 IEM Dual-Driver Earphones

Ok…we’re not going to lie…when we heard Stagg had brought out a set of in-ear-monitors (or IEM to you cool young things) with two drivers in them, we were sceptical. That was, until we had an in-store demo by our favourite EMD biscuit-gifting rep, Trev! Between the three of us in store that day, we were totally blown away by the audio quality from the Stagg SPM-235 IEMs compared to the so-called ‘upmarket’ brand earphones we were currently using.

As an absolute entry-level pair of IEM earphones, a set of the Stagg SPM-235 are a great gift idea for the younger musician in the family. Even for listening to music on a journey, these are more responsive than bigger name brands found at twice the price. Certainly, for domestic applications and use in rehearsal rooms, these IEMs provide a more than adequate sound for the player who doesn’t make their living from playing music. In fact, with just the two drivers, these would be suitable for singers who don’t need any extra low-end than already provided.

The shape of the moulds do provide a level of sound-isolation and are comfortable to wear, especially with so many earbud choices.

Stagg SPM-435 Features, at a Glance

  • 7 Hz – 40 kHz frequency range
  • 108 db/mW sensitivity
  • 30 ohms impedance
  • 3.5 mm (1/8″) mini jack-plug
  • 1.2 metre (4′) cable
  • EVA foam case
  • 3 pairs of memory foam buds
  • 2 pairs of rubber buds
  • Choose from clear or black finishes

Whilst nothing beats the expensive custom-moulded IEM option, often running into hundreds of pounds worth of investment, these Stagg SPM-235 IEM earphones will give your music warm bass tones and clear, high frequencies for an unbelievably low price.

How do they do it?” we hear you ask!

Well, our guess is, many top-end components originate from a handful of factories in the Far East and it is highly likely the SPM-235 earphones are built using technology found in brands with a much higher shelf-price. For a minimal investment, these IEMs give a performance more in the scope of industry-standard audio brands. For that matter, if ‘belt-and-braces’ is your thing, then you could buy two or three sets for the price of one well known brand!
