DW 5000 Single Pedal (Double-Chain Accelerator)

Our company was basically founded on the 5000 pedal and we’ve always considered ourselves a pedal company first. I’m really proud of this new pedal and we’ve only improved upon an already good thing. We were really careful not to reinvent the wheel.

DW 5000 Single Pedal DW5000AD4

The Bass Drum pedal that launched Drum Workshop onto the World’s stage, the DW 5000 single pedal has come a long way from its origins inside the collapsed Camco drum company of the 1970s. Some say, the DW 5000 is the most natural feeling drum pedal ever invented and despite the advanced pedal technology found in other DW pedals, many refuse to leave their red base-plates for silver.

Known as an industry standard in drum pedals, DW have made many subtle changes to the 5000 series over the years, resulting in better performing pedals whilst retaining their original, unique identity. The DW 5000 single pedal 5000AD4 model is the classic Accelerator pedal design, but with some upgrades for the heavier-footed player.  The wider footplate is in line with the DW 9000 pedal design and a dual-chain sprocket adds a stronger feel underfoot for the players who don’t need that Pete Erskine delicate foot control. However, that is not to say the pedal cannot be played subtly; under the feet of a player with advanced foot control techniques, it plays as well for quiet situations as well as it does for out-and-out Rockers. The double-chain and wider footboard does feel different to the original DW 5000 design, but we would say it is down to the individual player to decide. We have customers who own both versions and swap seamlessly between them.

At this point in pedal design, you either stop here and realise it doesn’t really get any better, or start questioning whether it’s the pedal or your foot technique at fault, because we can guarantee, a DW 5000 is all the pedal you should ever need.
