Put the words ‘Drum Workshop’ and ‘5000’ together and we’re treading into iconic territory and the DW 5000 Hi-Hat stand is worthy of all the same accolades bestowed upon its Bass Drum beating siblings. Everything about this stand says, “I’m the last Hi-Hat stand you’ll ever need to buy!” and if you don’t want to read any further, just watch this video!
When we get to 5000 Series production the weight starts to increase and the tubing diameters get bigger. The DW 5000 Hi-Hat stand is made for serious ‘road’ use and will stand up (no puns please) to pretty much everything a drummer or road-crew can throw at it. The footboard is of the chunky 9000 Series design which is great for wider feet and guys’n’gals who like the solid feel of a larger plate underfoot.
Starting at the bottom, we have a folding baseplate which adds to the stability of the stand above which, the footplate and hinge are attached. The hinge is DW’s ‘Delta II’ ball-bearing loaded design which provides a frictionless feel to the movement of the pedal. Above that, there is the double-chain linkage and DW’s infinitely adjustable spring tension.
The double-braced legs swivel for easy positioning of a slave-unit from a double-pedal and there is a memory lock securing the upper half of the tubing. The bottom cymbal-seat is DW’s patented ‘Lateral Cymbal Seat Adjustment’ for accurate and reliable angling of your bottom cymbal, should you need it. The Hi-Hat clutch is DW’s SM379 with it drum-key operated lock-nut, making sure it will never come loose during playing.
There are two pull-rods provided, one 21″ (standard) in length and the other 15″ – should you play at a lower seat-height. The DW 5000 Hi-Hat stand is an industry-standard professional Hi-Hat stand which offers more than any drummer should need to get through rigorous touring schedules.
