If you don’t have a vintage drum kit but are looking to achieve a calfskin head sound but without killing any baby cows, then the Modern Vintage medium heads could be right up your street as well!
The Aquarian Modern Vintage medium drum head range are constructed with 1-ply of 10-mil film with Aquarian’s bespoke ‘vintage’ coating to recreate the classic style and feel of the iconic calfskin drumheads from the past – but in a completely synthetic way. No animals were killed to bring you these heads! Furthermore, the hoop design of these heads is also a great fit for those old vintage drums which are slightly ‘out-of-round’ or slightly inaccurate with their specified diameter.
We see these occasional discrepancies on old American drums (Ludwig and Gretsch mostly) where a modern head just won’t fit properly. However, when we apply a Modern Vintage it’s always been a game changer! Not only do we get a head on the drum, but we also achieve a sound befitting of the age of the drum. It’s a win-win situation all-around.
