Gretsch Full Range Hammered Black Steel Snare drums are a fantastic way to experience a Steel Gretsch Snare drum at an extremely attractive price-point.
With their Black Hammered Steel models, Gretsch have taken a 1.2mm Steel shell, added a large hammering pattern to bring focus the tone to the shell and delivered a range of Steel shells with slightly dryer characteristics with their overall attack. The result is, not only do you get some great sounding Steel shell Snare drums, but a stunning visual appearance very reminiscent of a certain Brass Snare drum that came out of Mr Ludwig’s factory in the late ’70s!
This version is a unique take on the Hammered Steel range having being fitted with Satin Black 13-ply Rock Maple hoops. Thanks to the inclusion of wooden hoops, you will experience fuller sounding rim-shots and cross-stick sounds, plus a bit more reduction in shell overtones to deliver a balanced blend of warmth, and projection.
