Lloyd Ryan

Lloyd Ryan

Does this man even need an introduction? Having relocated from the south-east to The Wirral Peninsula, we are more than delighted to have Lloyd on our drum-teacher roster! The history and career this man comes with is the stuff of the golden days of the music industry. Book lessons with Lloyd and you will be gaining experience from a true pro who spent his career working with legends of TV and stage.

Active since the 1960s, he has worked with Tony Christie, Matt Monro, Brotherhood of Man, The New Seekers, Tommy Cooper, Bobby Davro, Gene Vincent and P.J. Proby. Ryan has also led his own big band since the 1980s and released his first big band album in 2012.

Out of the many students Lloyd has taught, probably the best known is a certain Mr Phil Collins. In his autobiography, Collins has actually credited Lloyd as the man who taught him the basic drum rudiments.

In addition to Collins, other students who have become successful professional drummers include John Coghlan, Keef Hartley, Derrick McKenzie of Jamiroquai, Nick Simms of Cornershop, Graham Broad, Blaine Harrison of Mystery Jets, and Ralph Salmins (he’s played with quite a few dudes!)

Even talking to Lloyd is an education in itself – but we highly recommend booking a lesson with the man who has enjoyed a career most of us will only ever dream of.
